Alocasia cuprea "Red Secret"

The Alocasia cuprea "Red Secret" is a rarity among the Alocasias. It comes from the tropical areas of the Pacific Ocean.

Its leaves are copper coloured and have a metallic shine. In addition, the veins of the leaves are contrasting in colour. The leaves sit on long, thin stems, have a broad base and are pointed (hence the name "arrow leaf"). Their growth is impressive. First the leaves of the Alocasia shoot out of the ground like arrows, then they grow upwards and gradually wrap themselves apart. Alocasias grow larger and more decorative over the years and can also develop flowers as they age. 

The Alocasia cuprea comes in a Terracotta pot with a matching saucer.
